The Greek Revolution of 1821, the most important moment of our modern history, was the culmination of the heroic struggle of the enslaved Greeks for the conquest of freedom. From 1821 to 1829 countless Greeks offered their lives with “virtue and courage” so that we can all be free today!
The battles that took place during the Revolution were many and equally important. In this book we have chosen to present seventeen (17) war episodes – according to the history textbook for the 6th grade – as well as the proclamation of the Revolution, on March 25, 1821, which we celebrate as a national holiday.
Historical memory is a cornerstone of a people’s existence and a guide to its course through time. Based on this assumption, we hope that our book will mobilize the interest of young readers for this pivotal moment in our history and be the beginning for the further study of the events that led to the creation of the modern Greek nation.
